Why Palaeo Pictures?

Why Palaeo Pictures?

Palaeo Pictures

There are so many video production companies already out there and more are appearing every day. It seems that everyone wants to get into video production! So why is Palaeo Pictures different from everybody else?

Our motivation.

We don’t want to simply tell the stories that come out of research into the past of planet earth, we want to help fund that research through our video productions.

We have established a relationship with the not-for-profit Australian Palaeontological Research Institute (APRI) to form a collaboration aimed at advancing the science of palaeontology.

Like all other areas of science, palaeontology is mostly dependant on grant funding. Not only is there not enough grant money to go around all the science projects on offer, palaeontology often misses out on the limited grant funds to other areas of research.

Palaeo Pictures is a new avenue to fund the science of fossils. Akin to singing for our supper, we tell the stories of palaeontology as they happen. In making our documentaries we are able to assist by funding palaeontologists to actually do their research. A share of our profits goes straight back to APRI to fund further research.

A key feature of our production capacity is single-person crewing. We can embed a reporter/producer/camera/sound operator into the field for extended periods to capture the dig as it happens, to record the field work as it happens, to cover the preparation of fossils over months instead of visiting a research project for a short time with a large crew once the research has been completed.

And the stories we want to tell are part of the greatest story ever to be told; the story of the history of life on Earth. Billions of years in the making, our stories explain how the diversity of life we see around us today came to be here. We will explore ancient lost worlds and bring them back to life. We will uncover fantastic beasts extinct for millions of years and reintroduce them to the world.

In launching Palaeo Pictures, we are starting a journey. A journey bringing the past to the present. And you are invited to join us on this journey. You can support us now as we start out and follow along as we produce and broadcast our documentaries. We can put you in the field looking for the fossils. We can put you in the excavations, freeing the fossils from the earthly tombs. We can put you looking over the shoulders of the researchers as they go about studying and understanding these treasures from the past. And, along the way, you will be doing your bit to actually support the research. Just by coming along on the journey, supporting us and watching our documentaries, you will be providing funds that will help the palaeontologists get their fascinating work done.

So join us! We’re in for a magnificent adventure!
